Heyyyy

Yan is a cross-disciplinary designer with a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science specializing in human computer interaction. Beyond that, I also took an interest and minored in Japanese study and computing arts. I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in interaction design in Washington, D.C.

My interest in art and design is what drives me into this field. I’m expanding my skillset beyond the screen, hoping to provide a more tangible experience. Beyond that, I’m a huge Typography nerd, and my new work in digital typographical UI design is in process. Stay Tuned!

Beyond my professional work, I spend most of my time watching films, anime, reading books, and listening to J-Indie and J-Rock. I’d persuade anyone to watch film directed by Celine Sciamma and animation directed by Kon Satoshi, Mamoru Oshii, and Masaaki Yuasa.

I’m also a cyclist with 10 years of experience, which you will find in more detail about my love of cycling and advocating for walkable city planning through my work CYCLE. Take a look. It wouldn’t be an intense read.

A little bit about me, I came from a family that practices traditional Chinese style ink on paper painting. My love for abstraction and typography came from here, and I also paint watercolor in my free time.
